Mr. Philip Adams

At the Law Offices of Philip B. Adams, LLC, Mr. Adams is a dedicated and relentless litigator. In handling criminal cases, he tries to look at every fact and detail.

He is meticulous and understands that what the other side presents is often only one part of the overall story of a case. He fully investigates and evaluates evidence in an effort to approach any legal issue that he handles for a client in the best possible manner that he can.

In criminal cases, he works hard to secure and present all evidence favorable to a client’s case. Mr. Adams works to obtain the best results he possibly can on behalf of each person he represents.

At our office, Mr. Adams works closely with support staff as a team to advance every case. If you are in need of a law firm that will provide committed representation, our law office can make a difference.

Mr. Philip Adams - Attorney at Law

The most serious cases are not won on the surface.

Whether the charge is murder in a state courtroom or fraud in a federal one, what is at stake is the same: your liberty, your reputation, and everything you have built. These cases are not won by lawyers who stay on the surface of the evidence. They are won by a lawyer willing to get all the way into it. That is how Philip B. Adams works.

Mr. Adams is a Louisiana criminal defense attorney who concentrates on high-stakes, complex cases. In state court, he defends the most serious charges in the system — homicide and murder, rape and sexual offenses, and violent felonies, where the exposure runs to life in prison and lifetime placement on the sex offender registry. In federal court, he can handle complex matters, including white-collar and financial crime, where the government arrives with vast resources and years of preparation. Different forums, one common thread: these are difficult cases, and difficulty is where he is at his best.

His state-court work spans every stage of a case. He tries cases before a jury, handles direct appeals, and pursues post-conviction relief — and clients can bring him in at whichever stage they face, including stepping into a case fresh on appeal or post-conviction after another lawyer handled the trial.

He gets all the way into a case. Rather than accept the government's version of events, he investigates independently — working with a seasoned private investigator, a former law enforcement lieutenant who knows from the inside how a case is built and where it comes apart. He can take apart the evidence the prosecution relies on — the DNA, sexual assault examinations, cell-site and digital data, and toxicology in a violent or sex case; the financial records, transactions, and data in a federal matter — for the flaws and the overreach. He tests the credibility, memory, and motives of every witness. He retains the right experts. And he litigates the suppression and evidentiary issues that can decide a case long before a jury is seated.

That rigor is rooted in how he was trained to think. Before law school, Mr. Adams earned a degree in mathematics — alongside extensive coursework in the sciences — and graduated summa cum laude, the highest honor his university confers. It is an unusual foundation for a trial lawyer, and a decisive one: he is as comfortable scrutinizing a forensic report as he is reconstructing a financial record, and he works through a case the way a mathematician works through a proof — nothing assumed, every step tested.

That analytical horsepower is not Mr. Adams's alone. The firm's paralegal holds a Ph.D. in statistics and worked for years as a data analyst before turning to legal work as a second career — a rare resource in a criminal defense practice. In cases that turn on DNA match probabilities, forensic statistics, or large volumes of financial and digital data, his expertise lets the firm scrutinize the government's numbers rather than take them at face value.

Mr. Adams’s legal credentials are built around this work. Mr. Adams graduated as valedictorian of his high school and went on from his mathematics degree to the LSU Law Center, earning his Juris Doctor along with a Diploma in Comparative Law. He distinguished himself in criminal law in particular, earning top-of-class CALI awards in three subjects that map directly onto his practice today: Advanced Topics in Criminal Law and Sentencing Law — central to clients whose exposure is measured in decades — and Corporate & White Collar Crime Law, the foundation of complex federal work. Even before he was licensed, certified under Louisiana's student practice rule, he spent time inside the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney's Office, where he saw firsthand how the government builds a serious case. He has spent his career since on the other side of that work.

An accusation is not a conviction. Mr. Adams represents the accused with the discretion these cases demand and with genuine commitment to the principle that the presumption of innocence still means something — whether his client is a person facing the gravest charge in state court or a professional whose name and livelihood are on the line in a federal investigation.

Mr. Adams is admitted in every Louisiana state court, up to the Louisiana Supreme Court, and throughout the federal system — the Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of Louisiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Adams is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) and the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (LACDL), where he served as Director for Louisiana's 4th Congressional District in 2023.

While Mr. Adams retains a highly qualified paralegal in a supportive capacity, clients who retain Mr. Adams work with Mr. Adams. Their case is not handed off. He keeps communication direct and candid, and he guards a client's privacy as carefully as the outcome itself.

A lifelong Louisianan raised in rural Natchitoches Parish, the son of a small-business owner father and homemaker mother, Mr. Adams brings that same work ethic to the firm he built.
